Synopsis:

“Now, this is going to be hard for you … but you have to leave.”

Adalyn is on the run.

From who? She doesn’t know.

From what? She doesn’t know.

“You have to trust us Adalyn,” my dad stressed.

That’s exactly what she plans on doing.

For the first time in her life, she’s on her own, and has no idea what to do.

Rudd Archer has lived in the same small town for most of his life.

He’s alone, has been since his parents were taken from him much too early.

He’s always wanted a family, a house full of kids.

Unfortunately, Rudd is a loner and keeps to himself.

What will happen when Adalyn comes stumbling into his life, renting out the apartment above his house. Is it just a coincidence, or will she be ‘the one’ for him? Will she open herself up to strangers, or will her past get in the way of her own happiness?

This is the first book in the Aster Lake Series, told from dual POV’s.

Recommended for 18+, Romantic Suspense

Excerpt of the Prologue:

I was in my room listening to music, a new hip-hop dance song I hadn’t heard yet, when my mom suddenly busted in the door. At least that was what it sounded like. A nondescript, brown leather suitcase dangled from her fingers.

“Mom?” I scooted to the edge of my bed, rumpling my sheets.

“Pay attention sweetie, I need to tell you something. It’s very important.”

She set the suitcase on my bed and propped it open. She spun around, went straight to my closet, and grabbed an armful of clothes.

“You’re scaring me, Mom. Is it Dad? Oh no! Did something happen to Dad?” I asked as my heart began to beat harder and faster, almost hurting me.

“Your dad is fine, sweetheart.”

She put another handful of clothes into the suitcase, then came to stand in front of me.

“I’m so sorry.” She pulled me into a hug. “But everything your father and I did, we did to protect you. We did what was necessary to keep you safe. It was extreme, I know. Keeping you close to us, not allowing you do too much without us. I wish I could explain it now, but we don’t have time.” She pulled back, and stared into my eyes. Her eyes were full of tears that she was so desperately trying to keep from falling. Her lips pursed together before she said, “You must listen to me sweetheart, everything I’m about to tell you. Remember it.” The intensity on her face was a bit frightening, something I’ve never seen on my mother’s face, so I just nodded. “Adalyn May Nielson died today.”

I knew my parents had a secret they’d yet to share with me all these years, but I never expected to hear that. This was unreal, and far too extreme, especially coming from my sweet mother.

“What?” I barely whispered. Adalyn May Nielson was my name.

My mom didn’t allow me to keep thinking or speak.

“Your name is now, Adalyn Rose Anderson. You have a new birthday, which makes you twenty-one, not twenty-four, which you truly are. You have a new identification card and of course, a new birth certificate to back that all up. I took your old ones out of your purse and destroyed them. The new ones are in there now. I talked your dad into letting you keep your first name. That’s all I could give you, sweetheart.” She let go of me and went for my purse.

“Why do I have a new name, Mom?”

She ignored me.

Michael Valente
My father was the underboss of an organized crime family. He was murdered when I was a teenager leaving me broken. My mother died in a tragic accident, her death annihilated me. My life was in shambles until Victor Pastore, one of New York’s most notorious gangsters and my late father’s best friend, recruited me to work for him.
Everyone expected me to walk in my father’s shadow, to be the prodigal son, the next big thing to hit the mob. I was torn between filling those expectations and walking the straight line my mother wished I had. Nothing made sense and I felt as if I was just passing through life.
The only beacon of light in my otherwise dark world was the one girl that was off limits to me. The one girl who could bring me to my knees consuming my mind, body and soul.
She’s the sweetest temptation I’ve ever known and the most illicit.
Nikki Pastore
My father’s a gangster. My boyfriend’s is the king of New York’s night clubs. I am often labeled as Vic’s daughter or Rico’s girl, never just Nikki. I struggle for people to acknowledge me for the woman I am and not for the men in my life. I’m fighting a losing battle.
There is only one person who sees me for me, my Mikey.
He’s wild.
He’s reckless.
He’s hot as hell.
He’s completely unattainable but oh so tempting.

Excerpt:
He set his coffee mug on the counter before stepping precariously close. “Say it again.” He demanded, barely audible. He was close, too close hogging up all my air. I planted my palms on his chest and pushed. “You’re a dick.” I hissed. He closed his hand around my wrist and leaned against the counter tugging on my wrist pulling me against him. I wriggled my hand free, but he took hold of my hips and flipped us around so that my back was against the counter. He let go of my hips bracing one hand on each side of me as he gripped the edge of the counter and boxed me in. “Christ that mouth of yours will be the death of me.” He said huskily, his eyes diverting back and forth between my eyes and my lips. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that considering bullets were flying passed your head last night.” I said my voice sounding raspy. I cleared my throat, wishing I didn’t sound so much like a phone sex operator. I was mad at him, my voice should sound angry not sexy. I let my eyes wander his body because I was the queen of mistakes. How was it that even in a rumpled suit he looked so enticing? I conceded that there was definitely something wrong with me. I was engaging in this ridiculous sexual tension while we were hiding out in a safe house waiting on word for why the hell we were shot at in the first place. My mind should’ve been on my dickhead ex-boyfriend trying to figure out what his part in all this was but instead I was itching to hump Mikey’s leg like a bitch in heat. “It didn’t work did it Princess?” He said looking down as my body betrayed me and arched slightly to his craving his touch. He smiled coyly giving me what I needed wedging his leg in between mine. “What?” I croaked closing my eyes because Naughty Nikki the phone sex operator was back. Yes, I now named my alter ego. “Staying away from me, pretending this thing between you and I didn’t exist wishing that it hadn’t just been a phone call that sent you over the edge, it didn’t work did it?” His voice sounded so controlled making me resent him and fight the urge to knee him in the balls. “In fact, I’d say it backfired right in your pretty little face.” He nuzzled the side of my neck, pushing away my hair with his nose, his lips grazing my skin ever so slightly. “Should I do it Nikki? Should I slip my fingers under your skirt and see how much it didn’t work?” His hands began to fumble with the hemline of my skirt and I thought about stopping him but I didn’t want to. I wanted him to touch me. I wanted him to fuck me up against this counter, but I’d settle for his hand. “Should I dip my fingers into that pussy of yours? Tell me Princess are you wet?” He whispered, taking my earlobe between his lips giving it a tantalizing suck. He shifted his body slightly pressing his erection against my thigh. I involuntarily wrapped my fingers around his wrist guiding his hand under my skirt. “Are you going to let me watch you come this time, or are you going to be a coward again?” He asked, his words sounding like a dare. Did he really just call me a coward? His fingertips worked along my thigh inching closer and closer… almost there. What was I saying? I was a second away from taking his finger and sticking it inside my aching pussy myself, but the front door of the cabin slammed open. Mikey’s hand dropped away from me and he reached behind him for the gun that was tucked into the back of his pants. I didn’t know if it was because of my current state or if I had simply lost my mind, but watching Mike holding a gun was incredibly sexy. His muscles were all taut as his arms extended pointing the gun at the intruder… my father.

THE BLOOD SCION Blurb:

I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them. I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play. And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us. The Houses. And their Scions. Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death. And somehow, I am one of them.

THE SCIONLESS HOUSE Blurb:

Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened. Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses. Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie. We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years. But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect.

Your scars, my scars, our scars...

A desperate promise whispered by her lover in the heat of the night. Can it be enough?

Sebastian saw me at my worst and still he gave me his best. When it was his turn to fall, I feared I wouldn’t be strong enough to catch him. The choices he made as a boy threatened everything about the man he’d become. I knew the struggle to keep his love would be the greatest battle my heart's had to face. Still, I could never have prepared myself for what was coming.

World turned upside down, it was hard enough to live with myself after what I'd done. Already unable to trust, I was trapped in a whirlpool of newly discovered truths. How could I live with his wounds when I was already dying from my own?

You can’t take on my burdens without giving me some of yours in return…

A hopeful plea from his lover's lips. How can he comply when telling her means destroying everything they've worked for?

Danielle was spiraling and it was up to me to reel her in. I could’ve lost it all in a heartbeat, but it would’ve been worth it if it meant she was safe. Calculated to the end, I had an iron clad plan to protect her. I just never imagined it wouldn't be enough.

The ghosts of my past were no longer trapped in my nightmares. They were real and they walked among us, waging war on all that I held dear. How could we win the battle when we had nothing left to fight for?

Two damaged souls. Too many mistakes. One future in jeopardy…

Note: This book is going through the editing process and this excerpt is subject to change.
Excerpt from Run With You:
The lights are off when I pull up to her father’s house in Santa Monica, but that car is in the driveway. I will replace it one day, regardless of the sentiments she feels toward it. Her safety is the most important thing. Someday, she’ll understand that.
Climbing from my bike, I walk to the door, and ring the bell. Ordinarily, I would refrain out of respect for her father, but he works nights. Even if he were home, Danielle has already told me that he’s a heavy sleeper. I wait several minutes before ringing it again. Unless he’s in there with her, she’ll get up and answer eventually. On the third try, the door finally opens.
Peering up at me through sleepy eyes, she says, “What do you want, Sebastian?”
I look down at the perfectly plump lips that make up the entrance to that smart mouth. I’d love to fuck her face until I can’t withstand it any longer. There’s getting head, and then there’s getting head from Danielle Stevens. Crossing her arms over her plump chest, she leans against the door frame. I scan my eyes down her body, and over the exposed flesh of her long legs. My cock twitches as I imagine the various things I could do to her.
Drumming her fingers on her elbow, she glares at me with those Jezebel eyes, and repeats, “I asked what you’re doing here.”
Shifting my weight, to allow more room in my jeans, I say, “We’re going to talk.”
Throwing her hands in the air, she sighs, and curses me in Italian. Her hot-headed temper is one of the many things I love about her. Following her into the living room, I take a seat on the coffee table in front of her. She lays down and pulls a throw blanket from the back of the couch, covering her luscious legs that I can’t stop envisioning around my head. Ordinarily, I would chastise her for trying to cover herself from me, but for tonight’s purposes, it is probably a good idea.
“You have to stop shutting yourself off from me,” I begin.
“Oh, if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black,” she says, rolling her eyes and turning her head away from me.
Dropping to my knees, I take her face in my hands. “Princess, when we are fighting I can’t function.”
“Then maybe you should have thought about that before you told her what I did,” she snaps.
“I had to tell Alana what happened that night, Danielle,” I say, biting back my exasperation and running my hand through my hair. “Why can’t you understand that?”

“What I understand, Sebastian is that you gave her more ammunition for her arsenal.”

Run To You

I moved to New York for a fresh start.  I did not move here to fall for a man like Sebastian.

Sebastian Black came into my life like a storm in the peak of the night…dark, raging, all-consuming, and guaranteed to leave destruction in his wake. From the moment our eyes met, he had a hold on me. I wanted, craved, and needed him like nothing I had ever desired before.

The problem was he needed total submission. From the moment he handed me the contract, I knew what he was proposing would destroy me. What I had not planned was his ability to make me crave destruction. I would lose myself in him. Sebastian knew how to take me over the edge, and before I even knew it, I wanted to go freefalling.

It was evident that my past had the ability to destroy us. What I had not calculated was the power of his to do the same. My dark, brooding, impeccably sexual, alpha-male had his own crosses to bear. I was not sure I was strong enough to handle them, or the woman who helped chain him there.

Sept 30th

Lawrence “Lucky” Coalson is on the track of the arsonist that torched his older brother’s construction company. The clues have led him to the Mississippi Flame Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Taking a job as a bouncer there, he hopes to find a connection or even the arsonist. What he finds is a blonde bombshell in a bit of trouble, so like the alpha male he is, Lucky comes to the rescue.

But what happens in Vegas is about to follow him home – and no one is prepared for the consequences.

“You do have a certain charm, cowboy,” Claudia murmured as she leaned back in his arms.
He kissed her, quick and hard, on the lips. “I’m just clearing the way for a fun filled evening, baby.”
He started around the bar, but she grabbed the back of his shirt. “What makes you think I don’t have plans?”
Lucky turned in a flash, grabbed her around the waist and slid his hand under her skirt to rub her through her panties. “I know you’ve got plans, sugar. I can feel what you’ve got in mind. It’s warm and moist.” He slipped his finger around the silken barrier to slide against her wetness. She moaned when his finger left her. He brought it to his lips. “And it tastes so sweet.”
Claudia came to her senses as Lucky stepped back. She swung an arm to slap him, but he grabbed it and pulled her close once again. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she hissed. Even though she was pissed, her body throbbed against him.
“I’m just keeping it real baby.  If we give them a show every now and then, the word will spread, and pretty soon, we’ve got a casino full of gambling voyeurs,” he murmured against her skin as he nibbled on her neck. “Now, I’ve got to go put out more fires.” He kissed her again, amid cheers and bar pounding, and then hopped over the bar with a grin and a bow. “Oh, and lose the panties, darlin’.”
Claudia shook her head and grinned. He definitely wasn’t boring her.

Hi! I'm Maggie Adams. I live near St. Louis, MO, with my high school sweetheart, Ned, and my wonderful kids, Katie (Kyle) and Ross (Valerie). My life is like a walking, talking sitcom from I Love Lucy, but I love it, although people do tend to keep their distance from me!
Writing has always been my dream, with reading my favorite hobby. When I’m not writing, I can be found singing, dancing, and cooking, often all at the same time. I try to include a little bit of my life in everything I write, so when you read my books, keep your eyes wide open - I'm in there somewhere! Happy reading!
